how to be a volunteer
:: XCEL Volunteers ::
The XCEL program is made up of volunteers that are willing and able to dedicate their time to the entire event. As an XCEL volunteer you make yourself available everyday from August 2-5, plus a training date (to be determined) prior to the event. Limited positions available.

:: What to Expect ::
A majority of the XCEL positions are assisting the volunteer staff in the following positions: Venue Monitor and Support, Interactive Village and Spectator Services. XCEL Volunteers will be assigned to a Volunteer Coordinator and work with the staff to coordinate the daily volunteers. XCEL Volunteers are positioned around the competition areas, and assist with crowd control and spectator access points. The more you know about the venue and the event, the more you will be able to assist the daily volunteers and the spectators. All XCEL Volunteers are expected to attend a training session prior to the event (date TBD).

We ask that all XCEL Volunteers be flexible with their assignments. The no-show rate of volunteers, competition schedule, weather conditions and the event needs will dictate your assignment throughout the day.

XCEL Volunteers will check in each morning, have a brief meeting with their assigned Volunteer Coordinator, and receive their assignments. Some XCEL Volunteers will be assigned to departments that have requested additional assistance during the entire event. More information will be given once you are accepted into the XCEL program.

Often it can be physically demanding, especially if you are standing in the same position or walking for a while. Changes and physical activity may be challenging, but you will find that they make the work exciting and rewarding.

As an XCEL volunteer you will enjoy:
•  Meals in the staff catering area during the event
•  Exclusive behind the scenes venue tour

:: How to Sign Up ::
If you are interested in being considered for the XCEL program, please check off the "I want to be an XCEL" on the Sign Me Up page under the availability section. The X Games Volunteer Department will contact you via email, and you will then be asked to fill out an additional questionnaire. XCEL positions are limited and based on review.

Your hard work and dedication is highly appreciated and rewarded in the end. We rely on your teamwork to add to the success of the event. There is a real sense of accomplishment at the conclusion of a successful event or day where you truly feel you have made a difference.
